Go for Greece Blog Hop September 2018 - Holiday Catalogue So Santa

I can't believe that this is our very last blog hop for the Go for Greece Group. Whilst I didn't earn the incentive trip this year, I have been surrounded by some amazingly talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators world-wide and have gained some very insightful mentoring; for which I'm incredibly grateful for.... and made some amazing lifelong friendships. along the way.

When the 2018 Holiday Catalogue came out, my heart skipped a beat. Sooooo many amazing products and suites. It was hard to pick just one favourite. But the one that stood out for me was the
So Santa stamp set. This set screamed Aussie Summer to me because of the Santa in his boardies.

I headed to my local cafe with my stamp set and catty and drew inspiration from my beautiful setting, Terrigal Beach (it's a hard life living this close to an amazing location, incredibly lucky!)

While sipping my coffee, I had a fun card idea pop in my head. Why, not take some of my stunning local sand and put it in a shaker card!

First I created a window, card front size and layered it over a piece of white cardstock the same size, I did this to add a little bit of stability as I knew the card was going to be heavy (reserve the cut out rectangle piece as this will be used later). I used the embossing paste liberally and pressed down into a tub of sand. Wanting to make sure that the sandy paste was completely dry I left it overnight.

I layered a window sheet to the under side of the frame using tear and tape.

Below is the reverse side of the front panel. I've used foam adhesive strips around the inner and outer parts of the panel for extra stability. Pour in some sand.

The Santa was stamped in memento ink and coloured in using our amazing Stampin' Blends. I fussy cut him so I could position him on the front.

Don't you just love how this turned out?! My children just loved it. What a fun shaker card!

Thank you for stopping by on this very last
Go For Greece Blog Hop.
I hope you've been inspired by my creations and those of other amazing demonstrators. I'm Tanya Kane.... and enjoy!  And don't forget to come back and visit for more ideas and inspiration!

  2. This is an amazing card. I think Santa will be heading to the beach near your house as soon as his Christmas Eve ride around the world is finished.

  3. Hey, Tanya, What can I say except wow wow wow.
Sand on card in a frame and as a shaker too. I must admit I did think awwh not sand stamp when I saw the stamp set BUT I would not of thought using beach sand at all, ever. Ten points for ingenuity. I hope the sand is dry enough to enjoy this for at least this Christmas season. Awesome work

    1. Thank you so much Christine. I attended a retreat recently and help with a shaker class. It really inspired me. Now I'm looking at everything thinking how can I turn that into a shaker lol.
